COTTON
FIBRAFINA® fabrics are made exclusively with extra-long staple cotton yarns, with a very fine count, double-twisted thread in weft and warp.
Staple indicates the fiber’s length: the longer it is, the higher the cotton quality. Thread identifies the fiber’s fineness: the thinner it is, the greater the cotton quality. Double-twisted cotton yarns are made with high-count, extra-long staple cotton fibers consisting of two twisted threads which are in turn made from two twisted threads.
These properties affect the final product’s appearance and performance, which will be more compact, resistant and with a uniform and particularly bright appearance.
Each cotton-growing area yields different characteristics due to climate, seed selection, growing techniques, and skills. Good-quality cotton from a specific region (the Nile Delta in Egypt, the Californian islands, the Peruvian plains or the coasts of the Bermuda islands) can vary considerably over time.
FIBRAFINA® brand quality stems from the selection of raw materials that do not rely purely on the prestige of a specific cotton-growing area. It encompasses multiple areas and focuses on the merit of each single cotton batch, to create a mix that satisfies FIBRAFINA®‘s needs and standards.
